snow boardingIs your Sim tired of work, in need of a break? Are the kids just nagging your Sims to death? Well, fear not because the Sims are going on vacation. Whether you want to go camping at Bear Essentials Lodge, have fun in the snowy mountains at Penguin Acres, or get some sun on Sunset Beach, there is a vacation tailored to you and your favorite Sim here. For more info on The Sims game itself, check out the web site.

While The Sims game was originally just for OS 9, the Sims Vacation updates the application file so it can be run in both OS 9 and OS X. When tested in both environments it worked perfectly without any problems. It does take a minute or two to load up when you start the game and installing the game takes quite a bit of time (go have dinner).Other than that I had no complaints. [Editor's note: If you plan to buy and install other Sims expansion packs that came BEFORE this one, you will need to get them and install them BEFORE you install this one. Otherwise, you won't be able to install the older packs later. Also, if you have a Mac that will not boot into Mac OS 9, don't worry. The Sims game installer should work in Classic Environment. Just make sure you get the Mac OS X updater at Aspyr's web site so you can play the game in Mac OS X natively. Note, the more expansion packs you have, the slower the game will become. Even on a Power Mac G4 450 MHz with 512 MB RAM, the game was very sluggish with 3 expansion packs installed.]

The Sims Vacation expansion pack adds more than just a couple of vacation spots. It adds more options in the daily life of your Sim. It extends the friend base further than just those who live on your map, allowing people from out of town to visit you. For those romantic events with a loved one, a vacation is now an option. All it costs is $500 and you have your choice of several activities including: snowboarding, carnival games, fishing, etc. To add to all the fun, each of the areas are editable in case you want to change up the activities or provide yourself with your own personal cabin.

beach volleyballAs far as I can tell, this is bug free.

Overall, it makes a wonderful addition to The Sims and provides you with many new options for Sims and you to enjoy.
